Public Works Department

The Yarrow Point Public Works Department maintains the streets, right of ways, public parks, and other public areas.  Istvan Lovas (featured in picture), the Town's Public Works Employee, performs the bulk of this work, including mowing grass, pruning hedges, raking leaves, weeding, watering, collecting litter throughout the Town, and cleaning the Town Hall on an ongoing basis.

During the Summer months, Istvan also performs annual maintenance projects, such as painting the mail pagodas, guard rails, stop bars and signs, planting annuals, replacing gravel, and helping with preparation for the Fourth of July Celebration.

Town Engineer Stacia Schroeder surveys the condition of the Town's streets each year and develops a six-year street-repair schedule based on that survey.  She also investigates problems with clogged storm drains in the streets and drainage lines running from the street under private property, issues street-opening permits for utility work on the public right of way, and tackles other street-related problems as they arise.  In addition, she reviews all applications for subdivision, boundary-line adjustments, and private lanes.

If you know of a problem on public property, whether street or right of way, such as a dead tree or dead limbs, fallen limbs, a hedge that restricts street visibility, street signs that have fallen down, storm drains that are clogged, or a street that needs repair, please contact the Town Hall at (425) 454-6994.  The public works department will review the situation and attempt to resolve it as quickly as possible.

If you need additional information about subdivisions, boundary-line adjustments, or private lanes, please call Town Hall at (425) 454-6994 to obtain the necessary information and forms.

RIGHT-OF-WAY USE RESTRICTIONS

Please be aware that the rights of way bordering each of the Town's public streets are public property that has been set aside for the use of utility companies in supplying their customers and to provide temporary parking for residents and their guests.  The Town has strict prohibitions against placing improvements in this public right of way other than grass or gravel.  For further information, contact the Town Hall at (425) 454-6994.
